Onitsuka Tiger was founded in over 60 years ago with the ambition to bring up a sound youth through sport.
This mantra followed through the 1950s when Japanese schoolchildren in their thousands adopted the company's basketball boots, who became astounded by the revolutionary suction sole unit.
This innovative use of fashion technology allowed the players to stop and change direction far quicker than conventional footwear.
More famously, a shoe that has remained virtually unchanged to this day, the Mexico 66. Onitsuka Tiger created this design for the Mexican Olympics of 1968.
